“The best way to learn
is to do; the worst way to teach is to talk”-Paul Halmos
It is rightly said that
reading creates only flow of information in the mind but the actual learning
comes by doing the things and applying the same in real time situations. The
practical and theoretical learning must converge in order to visualize things
the way these are explained. Baba Farid College of Management & Technology
(BFCMT); has taken one step ahead in its custom to redefine the process of
learning by providing practical exposure through industrial visits along with
classroom teachings. Recognizing the need to provide an opportunity to quickly
learn the things, the institute had organized an industrial visit to GNA Dura
Parts Ltd, Mehtiana on. It is one of the world’s leading
manufacturers of automotive transmission components. The company has a
large customer base which includes Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, JCB,
Caterpiller etc. covering different sectors of the automotive industry and a
diversified product range. As many as 57 students of MBA 1st year
went for the visit accompanied by faculty members: Mr. Parminder Singh and Ms. Nandita
Goyal.
On behalf of the company, Ms. Amandeep Kaur-
HR Executive accorded a warm welcome to the students and directed them to the
conference hall. She started the session with a general discussion on company
and gave an overview of the company’s operations and explained the way it
evolved as a leading company in the industry. She also touched upon some key
financial figures of the group to provide insights about the financial health
of the company.
The students came
across the design shop, the testing laboratory, the materials store and the
production shop floor and were explained the sequence of manufacturing
processes. In the last, the students were taken to Research and Development
(R&D) department and explained it as key parameter for success in
manufacturing industry. She further discussed with management students that how
the company leveraged its technical know-how and became a globally accepted
company with continuous focus on R&D. The students realized the practical
significance of theory based concepts in their curriculum. They really
appreciated the efforts made by officials for providing in depth details and
the latest developments in the industry. The officials were also impressed with
the eagerness and the spirit of the students to learn new things.
The thrilling academic
tour was filled with more joy and fervor when; on the way back to Bathinda; the
students visited “Dera Baba Murad Shah
Ji, at Nakodar”. The place has a great significance in the history and it is believed
that any wish made from true heart is always approved from here. The students had a very learning as well
thrilling experience whose impact would be irreversible on their professional
growth. They always get benefitted from these kinds of visits where the
practical and theoretical knowledge converge with each other. Further, it helps
in increasing their knowledge horizons since they get an opportunity to move
over and above the boundaries of books.Indeed an unforgettable experience that students would like to have over
and over again !!!
