Baba Farid College of Management and Technology organized an
industrial visit to Amrit Dura Parts Private Limited- Phagwara Hoshiarpur
Highway (Village Simbly) on 27th April, 2013.The unit is a new start up and
operates in manufacturing of parts for Tractors and various other automobiles. Approximately, 21 students of MBA-IV semester
went for the visit accompanied by two faculty members (Mr.Saurav Bansal and Ms.
Sonal Mishra).
Mr. H.S Dhami- Head Human Resource Management Department, gave a
brief presentation on the main operations and the different milestones of the
company. After providing the insights about the operations of the company, Mr.
Dhami took the students around the manufacturing plant to show production
process of tractors and automotive parts. After that, they were taken around
the design shop, the testing laboratory, the materials store, melting shop and
the production shop floor and were explained the sequence of different
processes. The students were enthralled to see how the company melts the waste
material and converts it into useful parts.
Thereafter the students got an opportunity to interact with the CEO
of the company. In his discussion he explained the relevant takeaways and kind
of learning which students get from Industrial Visits. The students were explained
how the company uses the contractual labor and the safety practices for the
welfare of the staff. They have given the training to each and every employee
on Safety and security which is a unique concept in itself and explained the “Head
Count Principle” to the students. He further explained how the manufacturing
industry have undergone change over a period of time with the introduction of
the innovative processes
The
students had got a chance to interact with the engineers & technical staff
and learn the functional areas
like manufacturing, quality control, supply chain, logistics and other major
operations of the company.
